2 oz approx. Cotton Yarn (I used a large cone, so I'm not positive how much I used)
H hook
This hat was made for a 5 year old little girl who just got diagnosed with Leukemia. My daughter who is 5 years old is modeling it for me. For older children, just make more rounds down before doing the brim.
Round 1: Ch 4, sl st tog to form a ring. Ch 3, 13 dc in the ring. (14 dc total)
Round 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc, 2dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 4: Ch 3, dc in same st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Rounds 5-10: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 11: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 2 hdc in next st, hdc. *2hdc in next 2sts, hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 12: Ch 2, hdc in same st, *hdc next 5 sts, 2hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. Sl st tog.
Round 13: Ch 2, hdc in same st. Hdc in each st around. Sl st tog.
Round 14: edging: I used a reverse sc (also called a crab st) as a border. You can edge it in just sc if you want.
